Garage and Concrete Floor Coating Questions, Answered
Request an estimate
Questions and answers
Who actually does the floor work if I contact Saltperfect Floor Coating?
A local provider does, not Saltperfect Floor Coating. We are a referral service. We pass your request to an independent provider in our network, and that provider handles the estimate, the prep, the coating and any repairs. Providers do the work, so any questions about the job itself go straight to them.
How much does an epoxy garage floor cost?
Typical U.S. prices for a garage floor coating often run from about $3 to $12 per square foot. Polyaspartic systems usually land higher. Cracks, old paint, moisture and floor size all change the price. Get a written quote from the provider so you can see what is included before you decide.
Is a freshly coated floor slippery or safe to walk on?
A smooth coating can be slick when wet, especially with snowmelt tracked in from the driveway. Ask the provider about anti-slip additives or texture. Also ask how long the floor should stay clear of cars and foot traffic. Cure times vary by product and weather.
Can my cold, snowy winters damage a coated floor?
Freeze-thaw cycles and road salt are hard on bare concrete. A good coating helps shield it from moisture and salt. Prep matters most, though. Ask how the provider handles cracks, damp slabs and temperature limits for the product, since some coatings cure poorly in the cold.
How do I prevent peeling or bubbling later?
Most peeling starts with poor prep or moisture in the slab. Ask the provider about grinding the surface, filling cracks and testing for moisture. Keep the floor clean and wipe up salty slush. Those steps help a coating last.
What should I ask a provider before I say yes?
Ask what prep is included, which product they use, and how long it takes to cure. Ask for the quote in writing. Ask about their warranty terms and whether they carry their own licensing and insurance where required. Compare more than one estimate if you can.
Does the estimate request cost me anything or lock me in?
No. Asking for an estimate comes with no obligation. You can look over what the provider says and walk away. Any price for the actual work is set between you and the provider.
Will my homeowners insurance pay for floor damage?
It depends on your policy and what caused the damage. Some policies may cover sudden damage, such as a burst pipe, but wear and tear is usually not covered. Check your policy or ask your insurer. Providers can often help document damage for a claim, though they cannot promise coverage. Keep photos and written notes of the problem.
